Out of the Four Walls

A rejuvenating walk in the Golden Gate Park in the early days of the pandemic lockdown inspired this poem

Out of the Four Walls

We walk in silence

The trees sway, waving their unselfish welcomes

Their beauty

breathtaking

Stunned by the incandescence of cherry blossoms

We gasp

A deep joy swells in my heart

Fierce, nameless yet oh so welcome!

A burst of purple shrub,

A happy sparkle of golden wattle

Blazes against the azure sky

Glimpses of perfection

In a world gone deeply bizarre

Our silent thanks meet the soft breeze

We are restored

For the moment
